NOTE: This is not an AmRRON event. It is an ARRL-sponsored activity that many of you might enjoy participating in. This is ‘old school’ fun!
Objective: This 24-hour event is not a contest; rather it is a day dedicated to celebrating our CW heritage. Participants are encouraged to get on the air and simply make enjoyable, conversational CW QSOs. The use of straight keys or bugs to send CW is preferred. There are no points scored and all who participate are winners.
Straight Key Night is held every January 1 from 0000 UTC through 2359 UTC.

I will be listening and trying to make my first CW contact with a straight key. CW has been a challenge for me but I enjoy trying to learn it and it is a great low power and long distance contact method.

It’s a free site which offers a number of different training tools to develop and build CW proficiency at your own pace. The site readily facilitates the Farnsworth method of training & learning, and has several nice features for keeping track of your performance statistics, so you can watch yourself progress as you learn. Enjoy…ES CUL!
