There is a winter storm that is expected to deliver up to 18 inches of snow. The Governor has declared a State of Emergency for all 100 counties in the state of North Carolina.

AmRRON Of The Piedmont Triad Region,  has activated a virtual SIGCEN as of 2300z Saturday (12/8).

Our AmRRON Corps team in the most heavily affected area will be operating a virtual SIGCEN beginning about 2300z Saturday 12/8.They will use digital only for persistent contact. Voice as needed. Rockingham County CERT is one of their served agencies. Rockingham EMA may need assistance also but not confirmed. In addition, they will also be reaching out to hospitals should they need.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM SUNDAY TO
7 PM EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy accumulations of snow expected late tonight and
  Sunday, with some sleet and freezing rain possible Sunday
  afternoon, mainly southeast side of the Triad. Total snow
  accumulations of 7 to 12 inches, with up to a tenth of an inch
  of freezing rain is expected. The greatest snow accumulations
  are expected from Lexington and Greensboro north and west to
  Winston-Salem. Greater amounts of freezing rain to the east.
  The heaviest precipitation is expected to occur from 4am to 4pm
  on Sunday.

* WHERE...The western and northern Piedmont of central North
  Carolina, along the Interstate 85 corridor.

* WHEN...Late tonight through Monday.

* TEMPERATURES... Falling into the mid 20s Sunday morning, likely
  remaining in the mid to upper 20s Sunday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will become very difficult, if not
  impossible, Sunday morning, with hazardous travel conditions
  expected to continue into Monday. In addition, there is the
  likelihood of numerous power outages from from significant
  accumulations of heavy wet snow and some ice on top.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
