The following PL (CTCSS) Tone Chart was found at this great site, KV5R.COM
CTCSS (PL®) Tones for various radios
If you want GMRS and FRS radios of differing brands to talk to each other, you’ll need this info.
Note: Many FRS makers call these “privacy codes.” Be aware that there’s nothing private about it – any scanner can pick up FRS, regardless of the “privacy code” setting.
NOTE FOR CHEATING: They’re usually only off by 1 or 2, up or down.
HANDY HINT: DUMP THE PL TONES! …Especially in remote areas. When possible, set Sub-Channels to ‘0’ (Zero, or OFF)

So am I correct in assuming when listening for any CH3 contact on FRS and GMRS, we should setup our radios so they don’t use these security codes? (I understand it’s not actually secure).
Yes, that is correct. They are not actually security codes. But generally those codes are set to ‘0’, or ‘no code’. or ‘no tone’. Depending on the manufacturer.
However, in some local areas CH3 groups have experienced interference and mutually agreed to choose a CTCSS tone (privacy code). This helps eliminate unwanted interference on the same frequency.
I played for a repeater channel . it DONT work . I have my FCC lic for gmrs .i just got the midland mxt 115 any ideas please I thank you so much . tim
