East Coast (U.S.)
Standardized Frequency and Mode:
TAPRN VOICE 80 METERS – 3.818 MHz LSB
(EVERY Sunday at 9 PM Eastern)
STARTING OCTOBER 9th, TAPRN VOICE MOVES TO 80M
*Because 3.818 may already be occupied, the Net Control Station may have to tune up the band for a clear frequency for each Sunday net. Outstations (that’s us) must tune to find the net, which announces itself precisely at 9 pm. A “pre-net” is usually in operation around 8:00 p.m., making finding the net and holding the frequency easier.
TAPRN DIGITAL 80 METERS – 3.588 MHz USB +1200 Mode: Contestia 4/250 @ Sunday (Monday) 0100Z

Informal Script:
This is [Your Call sign Phonetically] in [Your State], maintaining a listening watch on [Standard Frequency] for any preppers on frequency seeking information or looking to provide information. Please call [Your Callsign Phonetically].
*Use your FCC call sign (not your AmRRON call sign/code name) when participating in this net.
During the TAPRN net, there are a wide variety of preparedness topics discussed.
Is the net at 9 PM EDT alsp?
NOTE: Net times for TAPRN are EASTERN . No regard is given to savings time or standard time. This page will be edited to reflect this shortly.
The net has been meeting on 3818 at the same time for winter, and AFAIK is still there, though the freq was occupied on 5/4/14 and I couldn’t find them elsewhere.
Gary,
This part of the year we are using the 40m band for the nets – around 7.242mhz (depending on other traffic and noise) for voice. Refer to the SOI for digital frequencies.
Hope to hear you on the air!

Alex
Will TAPRN Regional Net run tonight, May 25, 2014 on Chatzy Chat Room?
Also do you think a Yasue FT-817 would reach the rest of you on 40 Meters – 7.242 MHz LSB from the Tennessee Valley, or do I need to upsize to the Yasue FT-857? (I’d like to purchase a Yasue FT-817, but I think I’d need to purchase a FT-857 to get the 40 Meter and is is way $$.)
Also I don’t think I understand how you’d use AmRRON call sign/code name on a Yasue FT-817 that would require the FCC Callsign, it would be on the open air, but Chatzy Chat Room I’d use AmRRON call sign/code name
Is there an echolink conference or station where radioless (currently) hams can listen in or participate?

There are currently no Echolink nets under the AmRRON program. You should start one! If you do, let us know and we’ll add it to the AmRRON Net schedule. I’m sure you’d have a good turnout!
Monitored both the net and the chat room last night. Great net, great resource. Will be listening regularly from now on. Keep up the good work!
You are aware, aren’t you, that by specifying AM rather than SSB you are cutting down your range by potentially 75%? It is Sunday 19OCT14 0620 hrs; I’ve been monitoring all three frequencies +/- 5-kHz and I can’t hear you in central Arizona at 4500-ft altitude.
TAPRNs Sunday regional net has been in operating for many years in Lower Side Band (LSB) . It is not and never has been conducted in A.M. (amplitude modulation) . If you know of any indication that A.M. (double side band with carrier) please let us know. The correct day, time, frequencies and mode are listed on this page.
NOTE: We will be switching to the winter band plan, using 80 meters LSB very, very soon.
Haaar!
Popeye
How about just listing all times in UTC then there is no confusion?
Are there any active nets or groups in Florida?
Is there any chance that TAPRN will move back to 40m for the summer months as in previous years? I recall the site listing the assigned dates when the net switched between 40 and 80m.
I can appreciate that the current solar cycle might favour 80m for some operators, but for those checking in from farther out or more limited in terms of antenna options, a 40m net would facilitate their participation. I just thought I would ask so that I might plan my on-air time accordingly.
I monitored up and down the frequency for about an hour last night (20200511) and heard only Ragchews, no nets except up on 3916.
