Remember to pass on the NWOTW (Net Word Of The Week) in your local are regional nets. This simulates a piece of information or traffic that others are eagerly listening for, and helps you build the habit of making sure the traffic gets passed.
Keep in mind that many out there do not have HF transmit capabilities, but are listening on shortwave receivers and scanners (for local VHF nets).
They’re counting on YOU to get the message out!
I wish there were an easier, more reliable way to acquire the NWOTW.
There is an easier, more reliable way — the internet. Now, if we could be assured it would never fail, we wouldn’t have to practice regularly with radios. And radios do require practice. Radios simply aren’t as easy or as reliable as the internet. But when all else fails… there’s ham radio.
