This is the first tutorial series of many to come, designed to take the new (or seasoned) operator through the process, step by step:

  • Download the free software and custom forms
  • Install, setup, and configure each program with settings optimized for HF radio operations, whether one is only a listening station with a shortwave radio, or a fully licensed General Class operator with a transceiver.
  • WITH DEMONSTRATIONS of what it looks like to receive messages and forms.

This series focused on configuring the FLDIGI suite on Windows.  Future video series will cover Linux and the super easy one-stop-shop AmRRON Linux Build script, which installs everything the typical AmRRON radio operator uses on and off the air.

Be sure to go through these in sequence, starting at the top.  Each video sets the foundation for the next, subsequent video, and the FLDIGI suite is foundational to all other radio programs and operations.

BEFORE beginning this series, you’ll benefit greatly by watching the video  Digital Modes – What and Why? which describes the various digital modes used by AmRRON, and the reasons for, and general functionality, of each.

First Step:  Install and configure FLDIGI

Second Step:  FLMSG | Setup & Config and Import Custom Forms

Third Step:  FLAMP Setup and Configure

Also, there are numerous resources, screen shots, guidance, and links to the gear we recommend, including for those of you who may not be licensed to transmit. You can still use the FREE software to receive!
