ATAK: MESHCORE and UV-PRO PLUGIN
NOW Run Meshcore and the UV-PRO in ATAK!
The AmRRON Dark Labs Team has been working hard over last year, developing and testing the new ATAK UV-PRO-MESH PLUGIN.
This is the official release announcement and although it is still under development with many more features to be added and tested, it is now fully functional and ready for field use.
NOTE: As this plugin was developed, it was tested extensively and successfully with the 2024 and 2025 Motorola Moto G cell phones. These are $30 at Walmart and probably some of the most powerful computer/radio you could have in your comms kit for the price.

Meshcore ATAK Plugin – UV-PRO Plugin
Hi: I’m eager to connect ATAK to my meshcore radio but it doesn’t work. ATAK (version 5.6.0.12 from the Play Store) is working fine and the UV-Pro/Meshcore plugin is correctly installed. The Meshcore radio is paired and connected via the Meshcore app and it works. But it won’t connect to ATAK. Thanks, Carlos
Hi there! This was anticipated (almost expected). The developers on the AmRRON Dark Labs team said “whatever they do, tell them not to use the Playstore version of ATAK.”
I know that what has consistently worked is the ATAK version and plugin from the Github site that we have linked. The Playstore version of ATAK seems to have led to a lot of headaches. Not just with the AmRRON Meshcore/UV-PRO plugin, but with other plugins as well. But your mileage may vary. Just passing it along!
OK… very helpful. I deleted ATAK and the plugin and reinstalled from your script from your web site. ATAK works, plugin is loaded, still cannot connect to my Meshcore device. My device shows up when I “scan and connect” from the plugin, but when I select it, it just shows “scanning” for several minutes and never connects. I tried unpairing and pairing from the plugin, which showed the device as paired in the bluetooth settings, but ATAK will wont connect. Tried the same sequence on three different devices and got the same result. Two are older versions of Android (8.1.0, and 9, the other is 12). Meshcore radios are 2 Heltec V4s and a Lilygo T-Echo. I did _once_ get the Lilygo to connect, a couple of days ago, but no luck since, making me think the problem might be the Heltecs. All of them will connect to the Meshcore app, although I usually have to delete the pairing and re-pair from within the app. Tried deleting the Meshcore app, Meshtastic app, and Meshtastic plugin, same result. I do get some kind of “Java Security Cert” error when first opening ATAK from a fresh restart of the device. All the devices will successfully connect to the UV-PRO. Any ideas? Thank you, Carlos
I’ve got inconsistency in sending markers. Chat works well. But markers aren’t sending via meshcore.
I copy/pasted your exact post/comment and passed it along to the team. I’m suspecting it may be an Android (minimum xx.x version or higher) issue.
But the Android 12 “should” definitely work. I believe mine are the 14’s. I’ll have to double check that later on.
Let me know what you learn about what Android versions are know to work. I’ve tried 6-7 different EUDs and 4-5 different Meshcore radios, all with the same effect, with the most modern versions being Android 12. Also what Meshcore version are you using? Has anyone tried using Graphene OS? I know GoTak has been using Graphene but I don’t know what plugins they have tried.
I can’t find the APK for Android. Only Linux.l from that link. Am I missing something or is it not available on Android yet?
The Installer that is downloaded is what installs ATAK and the imagery/maps onto your Android device, from either a Linux or Windows machine.
After downloading the installer, you connect the Android to the PC and run that Installer and Imagery program. It does all the rest.
I’ve made progress… I bought a Walmart Moto G (Android 16) and de-Googled it according to the AMRRON video. I then installed a non-PlayStore version of ATAK (5.6.0.10) and the latest UV-PRO plugin (2.0.19). I was then able to connect it to both UV-PRO and Meshcore. Hooray! But installing the most recent plugin did not change the behavior on the other devices (Samsung Tab Active A and various other tablets running Android 8 to 13). When first loading the plugin I get a Java error that reads “java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.”. The Meshcore devices will pair and connect with Android, but will not connect to the UV-PRO plugin in ATAK. I have no idea if this Java error is preventing the Meshcore devices from connecting. I very much want to get Meshcore plugin working on the older tablets as they are the main devices I want to use for ATAK. Any ideas? I’m starting to go through the source code now looking for anything bluetooth related.
