Experiment with the USB Flash Drive to get comfortable with it. Then install Linux onto a computer you’ve dedicated strictly to Linux operations.
You will need a thumb drive with at least 8 MB of memory. Format the disk. It should have no other data on it that you want to keep, as it will be overwritten.

I have started the process of using the AmRRON HAM package based on KM4ACK work. I have loaded Mint 22 on my laptop and I am configuring that. Then installing your program package. I have opted for a field laptop because it is smaller than Computer plus keyboard plus display solution. I will have some limitations but I hope I can pull it off. My laptop is 12vdc and uses between 600ma and 2 amps depending on whether it is charging my laptop battery. My laptop is not powerful with 4GB RAM and 64GB SSD. We will see whether I can support the AmRRON configuration. I am hopeful. 73 mikemike15.
Sounds great! It also sounds like your setup is plenty adequate for the task!
