Hurricane Milton already a Category 5 hurricane is predicted to grow larger.

AmRRON is on the air!

From the National Hurricane Center, Militon is expected to grow in size and remain an extremely dangerous hurricane when it approaches the west coast of Florida on Wednesday.  A large area of destructive storm surge will occur along parts of the west coast of Florida on Wednesday.  This is an extremely life-threatening situation and residents in those areas should follow advice given by local officials and evacuate immediately if told to do so.

FLORIDA AmRRON Members:  Please get on the air as soon as it is safe to do so after the hurricane passes, and attempt to communicate with others.  HF radio operators, please do the same, and sent STATREPs, SITREPs, and if you are in a grid down situation with no conventional communications available, call for help on the AmRRON Persistent Presence Net frequencies.  If you have Commstat, please send a STATREP that way as soon as you are able.  Your fellow AmRRON operators will be on the air, monitoring, and standing by to relay emergency and welfare traffic if you need us.

AmRRON Members outside the impact zone, nationwide:  Please make an extra effort to be on the air monitoring for traffic in the hours and days after the storm passes.  Remember, it can take many hours, and even a day or two before conditions allow for a radio operator to deploy antennas and get back up on the air.  Don’t monitor during the storm and then turn your radio off the next day.  THAT is when we need to be diligent and monitoring.

For Persistent Presence Net Schedule, see your Signals Operating Instructions.
